Your Samsung Galaxy Should Get One UI 8 (Android 16) Soon

Waiting for the next big Android update can be somewhat frustrating, even for Samsung fans who have some of the latest models from the last few years. Thankfully, Samsung is one of the best in terms of updates. It has released several Android 16 betas, and the official One UI 8 release could be right around the corner.

While the first Samsung Galaxy to try the One UI 8 (Android 16) beta was the Galaxy S25 series back in May, the company didn’t stop there. We’ve seen several betas arrive over the last three or so months for the entire Galaxy S25 line, the Galaxy S24 beta in August, and even those with an older Galaxy S23 started getting it last week. However, those are only beta tests for select users, and now we might know when the official software update will arrive.
Over the weekend, an “announcement” and the full Samsung Galaxy One UI 8 (Android 16) update roadmap appeared on Twitter, suggesting that millions of phone and tablet owners can look forward to the next big Android release arriving as soon as next week. This isn’t official, and didn’t come directly from Samsung, but there’s a good chance many dates are fairly accurate.
It’s important to remember that Android release dates will vary by device, region, and even carrier-specific models like your AT&T Galaxy S24 Ultra. Still, Samsung’s done an excellent job of releasing updates globally recently. That being said, here are the latest rumored release dates for some of Samsung’s top Galaxy models.
Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra – September 18th
Galaxy S25 Edge – Sept 25th
Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE – Sept 25th
Galaxy A56, A36 – Sept 25th
Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 – Oct 2nd
Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE – Oct 2nd
Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra – Oct 6th
etc
The full list of potential release dates, first spotted by SammyGuru, is available on Twitter, but a few oddities make us question its accuracy. It claims Samsung will release Android 16 and its One UI 8 software to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 on October 6th, but then the newer Flip 5 and Fold 5 will have to wait until October 13th. While that’s certainly possible, Samsung typically follows a very specific update window and usually releases software for newer models first.
Other potential Samsung One UI 8 over-the-air updates include October 1st for the latest Galaxy Tab S10 series, and a whole array of devices are expected to see updates throughout October. If true, Samsung will be extremely busy the next two months, with only a few models slated to wait until November.
Again, it’s worth taking some of this list with a grain of salt. At the same time, Samsung started beta testing One UI 8 and Android 16 back in May, so the company had ample time to prepare and has been ramping up the beta to more models lately. Basically, the wait is almost over, and the official Samsung Galaxy Android 16 update should be here sooner rather than later. Once we get an official statement or release details from Samsung, we’ll let you know.
