Lady Gaga: Artist of the Year
Lady Gaga, who led with 12 nominations, kicked off the ceremony by winning
Artist of the Year. Beating out global icons like Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, and Beyoncé, Gaga’s win
underscored her influence in pop music. Dressed in a stunning baroque black gown,
she dedicated the award to her fans and her partner, Michael Polansky, before rushing off to complete her
Mayhem Tour at Madison Square Garden.
“I cannot begin to tell you what this means to me,” Gaga said.
“I hope as you navigate through the mayhem of daily life, you are reminded of the importance of the art of your life.”
Ariana Grande: Brighter Days Ahead
Ariana Grande won Best Pop Video and the night’s biggest honor,
Video of the Year, for Brighter Days Ahead.
Accepting the award with director Christian Breslauer, Grande described the project as a deeply personal journey of healing and resilience.
“If you’re on that journey, please continue onward, because I promise there are brighter days ahead,”
she told the audience, inspiring fans worldwide.
Sabrina Carpenter: Pop’s Rising Star
Sabrina Carpenter reinforced her growing status in the industry by winning
Album of the Year for Short n’ Sweet and Best Pop Artist.
Her dazzling retro-themed performance of “Tears,” accompanied by stars from
RuPaul’s Drag Race and ballroom icons, doubled as a bold statement advocating for
trans rights.
Bruno Mars, Rosé & Global Collaborations
Bruno Mars had a memorable night, winning for two collaborations. His duet with Lady Gaga,
Die With A Smile, took Best Collaboration, while his track with BLACKPINK’s Rosé,
Apt, won Song of the Year.
Rosé’s acceptance speech struck an emotional chord:
“This is a really big moment for 16-year-old me and anyone else who has dreamed about being accepted equally for their hard work.”
The awards also highlighted music’s global nature. Colombian superstar J Balvin collaborated with French DJ Snake,
while international girl group Katseye, with members from Asia, Europe, and the US, won
Push Performance of the Year.

presented by Ariana Grande. Carey delivered a medley of her greatest hits before joking:
“I can’t believe I’m getting my first VMA tonight. What in the Sam Hill were you waiting for?”
Ricky Martin: Latin Icon Honoree
Ricky Martin became the inaugural Latin Icon Award recipient,
thrilling fans with a medley of classics including Livin’ La Vida Loca and The Cup of Life.
He thanked fans for supporting his four-decade career, declaring: “I am addicted to your applause.”
Busta Rhymes: Rock the Bells Visionary Award
Hip-hop pioneer Busta Rhymes was celebrated with the Rock the Bells Visionary Award.
Introduced by LL Cool J, he delivered a powerful medley with GloRilla, Spliff Star, and Joyner Lucas.
